ArcheAge Closed Beta Event 2 Details

ArcheAge’s second Closed Beta Event is starting mere days after the first one ended! The event kicks off on Wednesday, July 30 at 10:00 AM PDT (GMT-7) and runs until the same time on Monday, August 4. Players who participated in CBE1 will not need to redownload the entire game client, only a 161MB patch to Build 4.3 which is currently on our Alpha servers.

There will not be a wipe before CBE2 begins: all characters and their progress will be retained from CBE1. Your timers on crops and taxes are set to pick up right where they left off at the end of the last event. It’s important to note that invites to CBE1 will not be valid for CBE2, but we are expecting that this event will be three times the size of the first with lots more partner site giveaways and randomly-selected invitations for fans who signed up on the official ArcheAge website. CBE2 code giveaways will begin on Friday, July 25, at Alienware, Razer, Rixty, MMORPG.com, Curse, TenTonHammer, NowGamer, Gamona, PCGamesN, MMOHuts, onRPG, BrowserGames.de, Free2Play.chip.de, and Games.de. Additionally, our Alpha and Founder players will have access to all of Beta.

To prepare for the increased population, we’ve doubled our server count for CBE2! Also, the Alpha servers will be live during this event.

A Brighter Age was Brilliant!

We’d like to say thanks for helping make our first ArcheAge Closed Beta Event, A Brighter Age, a great success!

This was an important test. It was the first time our launch hardware and networks were load tested with real people, the first test for the new backend software integration present in our version of ArcheAge, the first load test for the store, and the first clean test of some of the gameplay westernizations in ArcheAge.

We’d like to share as many details with you as we can about what we were testing and how it all went.

Our key giveaways all went extremely rapidly, and you turned out in larger numbers, faster than any beta we’ve run before! So fast, that the first servers filled up in 18 minutes. Usually when we run a beta, even when things go quickly, we have an hour’s notice that more might be needed. Not in this in case. This gave us important practice at adding a new set of servers to a packed service.

While you were all playing on the servers, we were carefully monitoring the systems behind the scenes and making modifications the entire time. All of the hardware held up really well, and you helped us identify one server that was having network issues, which we resolved during the test.

You also helped us to identify and fix challenges with some of the custom integration for our version! Some of you may have noticed issues with logging in, or with the store showing 0 credits. Both of these were due to one of the key systems integrated for our region. This was the first time that integration had ever been tested under real load, and making sure that all of the software and integration scales well is one of the reasons for these progressive beta events. With your help, we were able to identify and fix issues with that integration before the end of the event!

During the event, we were also adapting our own anti-spam and anti-bot software in real time. Our anti-spam software now handles in-game mails. When spammers get caught and removed, the software automatically handles any mails they’d sent prior to getting caught, removing all traces from your in-game mailbox.

While you were playing, you were also giving us feedback on what you liked, and didn’t like, with our version of ArcheAge. We really appreciate all of the detailed feedback, both about things you liked and would like to see improved. With your input, we’re reviewing a number of systems with XLGAMES, including use of labor while you’re hunting and looting, labor regeneration rates for online and offline players, and the availability of Archeum. We’re also looking into the feasibility of XLGAMES adding an ability queue and mouse inverting.

While larger gameplay changes will be ongoing over multiple builds, bug fixes, smaller updates, security updates, and localization changes are already in progress and on their way over to us for the next build. We’ll also be tweaking the items on the store to give you more of what you’re asking for! Remember, all of your credits will be refunded at launch, and your spending and feedback helps us to customize what’s on the store for you!

Based on the stability of CBE1 and the turnaround of key updates, we are thrilled to be able to announce our second Closed Beta Event: Setting Sail!

Our second beta event will start at 10:00 AM PDT (GMT-7) on Wednesday, July 30 and run through 10:00 AM PDT (GMT-7) on Monday, August 4. We expect it to be around three times as big as the first Closed Beta Event. We’ll have more invites for those of you who have signed up on the official ArcheAge website, and more giveaway keys than before, so you’ll have a better chance to get in! In addition, we’re holding a contest for you to win an opportunity to play on Alpha AND on Beta! As always, all Founders get into every Closed Beta Event!

We look forward to seeing you in ArcheAge!

Dawn of A Brighter Age

We’re thrilled to be starting ArcheAge’s first Closed Beta Event today!

Your support has been absolutely overwhelming – We’re truly humbled by your dedication to not just the best sandbox of 2014, but the best MMO of 2014, in such massive numbers.

We’re also happy to announce today that over one million of you have already joined our community of ArcheAge supporters, even before the first Beta event began!

As ArcheAge is Trion’s first MMO partnership, it’s been an exciting and educational journey to get here. We have translated around 2 million words, localized a ton of quests, extended our international infrastructure and opened it to a partner for the first time, and more. We’ve spent untold hours getting everything ready for you. All while working closely with XLGAMES to customize ArcheAge to better suit the Western audiences.

Players who are new to ArcheAge will get to experience its uniquely customized Version 1.2 for the first time on our Beta servers in both North America and Europe.

With this version, we bring you updated combat balance, improvements to the economic game of ArcheAge, and a host of great new features. In ArcheAge you can create a farm and breed native animals for unique mounts, build a ship and travel the high seas to trade in your goods for coin, make a name for yourself crafting the best gear in the game, stalk and slaughter your fellow players, or build your own castle on Auroria!

Our first Closed Beta Event, “A Brighter Age,” starts today, and continues on through Monday, July 21st. This is just the first of our Closed Beta Events! We’ll have events during the week as well as overlapping weekends. We’ll have specifics closer to each event, as the results of a given event will affect the schedule.

Please do keep in mind – There’s real testing going on during these Closed Beta Events! This isn’t “just a marketing beta.” We’re evaluating gameplay as well as infrastructure during these events, and we’ll be following up with an online survey at the conclusion of beta to collect even more of your thoughts. It’s important for us that you tell us how the game plays and feels! We take your feedback in combination with performance data from the game itself, and review it all in partnership with XLGAMES with a goal of constantly improving, to ensure the game is as good as possible for you when it goes live later this year!

We’re all very excited to see you all on the servers today and through the weekend!

ArcheAge Closed Beta Event 1 Invitations Sent

Adventurers, get ready!

We’ve sent tens of thousands of randomly-selected community members an invitation to join Closed Beta Event 1 (CBE1) starting on Thursday, July 17 at 10:00 AM PDT. Be sure to check the inbox of the email address you signed up with on the official website. If you received an email, you’ll be able to open (or download) Glyph, select ArcheAge in your Library, click Beta from the top-right region select, and begin pre-downloading and installing the client in advance of the event. We’ve also sent our Founders a similar email to let them know they can start as well.

These invites are good for CBE1. Want to guarantee access to this event, all future Closed Beta Events, and our four-day Head Start event before launch? Purchase a Silver, Gold, or Archeum Founder’s Pack! Archeum Founders will be able to continue playing on the Alpha and Omega servers during and after this first Closed Beta Event and enjoy a number of extra benefits at launch.

We’ll be starting Closed Beta with two servers: Aranzeb (NA) and Shatigon (EU). Aranzeb is located in Dallas, TX while Shatigon is located in Amsterdam. Players will be able to freely select which server they want to play on but character transfers will not be possible at this time. Both names ultimately refer to members of the Twelve, the original expedition that discovered the birthplace of the world, the Garden at the source of all magic. Aranzeb of the Elves, a master of magic, was imbued with great power during his time in the Garden, he never lost touch with his true self, and returned to the land of mortals with his elf-manity intact. Shatigon, ancestor of the Dwarves, became the god of abundance, earth, and gold. Ollo the Dwarf, one of the original Twelve, becomes consumed by Shatigon after his time in the Garden and a key player in the war with Kyrios that leads to Auroria’s destruction.

See you in ArcheAge this week!

ArcheAge Version 1.2 Build 4.1 - Patch Notes

The following build will be applied to the Alpha server during this posted maintenance: http://forums.archeagegame.com/showt...-AM-PT-(GMT-7)

Known Issues

The following patch notes do not include Trion’s custom gameplay changes, which will appear in an upcoming Beta candidate build. These custom changes include (but may not be limited to)

Addition of Gilda Star traders to cross-continental trade routes.
Adjustment of stolen trade pack split from 40% turn-in value returned to creator down to 20% returned to creator.
Normalization of ping-dependent skills (“fast” skills with no cooldown).
Additional Gilda Stars granted through sub-level 30 PvE relative to sailboat and small house costs.
Removal of Bounty Hunter Cloak Arrest and Instant Judgment abilities.
    45 Minute AFK Kick

Some strings will still be displayed in Korean in this build due to the rapid turnaround from delivery to Alpha. In addition, some pre-1.2 English strings may be out of date in terms of numbers or functionality. Expect these to be corrected ASAP in future updates.

The Marketplace (credit store) will not yet be available with this update.

Please keep in mind that these patch notes have come through the compiling of multiple source builds and then translation. This is the first (and probably only!) time we’re going through this process at such a scale. We’ll endeavor to correct any errors as quickly as possible!

1.0 + 1.2 Patch Notes

Battle

Existing characters will receive a free skill tree respec with this update due to the significant skill changes below.

Combat Stats

    Added new character stats:

      Healing Power

Contributes to Healing skills, rather than Magic Attack.
Healing Power is increased by Spirit; itemized on Clubs and Great Clubs.

      Focus

This stat decreases the rate at which the target's Parry, Evade, and Block cancel out your attacks.
Higher Focus decreases the target's chance to Parry/Block/Evade.
        Raised by item stats.

      Resilience

This stat decreases your attacker's critical hit rate against you, as well as the additional critical bonus damage you take.
Higher resilience means a lower chance of getting critically hit, and lowered critical damage received when you do.
        Raised by item stats.

      Toughness

        Decreases damage taken during PvP.
Reduces additional damage above and beyond your Physical and Magic defense, damage reduction, etc.
Toughness is only increased by item stats.

Modified damage and heal amounts of all skills; weapon and character stats are more relevant to calculations.
Magic Defense and Physical Defense: If a character's Magic Defense is equal to its Physical Defense, the two are equally effective.
Reduced the aggro impact of health regen skills (health over time).
Increased Attack Speed on the Dual Weapons buff to 10% from 8%.
Weapons have a higher base Attack.
Increased the relevant damage gain per stat point from 0.1 to 0.2, and Stamina hit point gain from 8 to 12.
Increased the amount of hit points gained per level.
Spirit no longer affects health and mana regen in combat; only gear and item stats affect this rate.
      Added "Ignore Magic Defense" effect.
Instrument skills only affect the players in your own party (does not extend to everyone in the raid)
Instruments now have usage cooldowns. Different instruments do not share a cooldown.
Damage dealt increases when the character is higher level than an NPC.
Adjusted the amount of added experience gained when in a party from 0-15% to 3-9%, based on group size.
Changing weapons in combat triggers a 2-second global cooldown.

Archery

Added new active skill Snipe and passive skills Eagle Eyes and Feral Claws.
Charged Bolt now requires Archery level 1.
Piercing Shot now requires Archery level 3.
Changed Endless Arrows: Was a Shadowplay level 20 skill, now an Archery level 10 skill.
Changed Deadeye: Reduced Attack boost effect; increased cooldown from 9 to 18 sec.
Changed Snare: Now requires Archery level 25; added removal of Shackle when skill is triggered; added -20% reduction of Physical/Magic damage received for 3 sec.
Changed Boneyard: Changed from Magic damage to Ranged damage; decreased cooldown from 60 to 45 sec.
Decreased Concussive Arrow cooldown from 36 to 30 sec.
Decreased Missile Rain cooldown from 45 to 36 sec.
Changed Intensity: Removed Aftereffect; decreased skill duration from 30 to 15 sec; decreased cooldown from 90 to 60 sec.
Changed Wild Instincts: Removed basic bow attack boost; decreased Move Speed boost from 10% to 8%.
Decreased Evasion's ranged evasion boost from 14% to 8%.
    Removed Marksman's ranged accuracy boost.
Disabled use of other skills while casting Missile Rain.

Auramancy

Added new active skill Mirror Warp and passive skills Inspiration Cloak, Magic Condenser.
Decreased Conversion Shield duration from 9 to 8 sec.
Changed the amount of Max HP boost from Health Lift.
Changed Shrug It Off: Decreased duration from 7 to 4 sec; added -50% to Magic Damage received for skill duration; decreased cooldown from 25 to 24 sec.
Decreased Unassailable cooldown from 3 to 2 sec; added 30 sec cooldown.
Changed Improved Targeting's +2% magic critical hit rate to +2% melee critical hit rate.

Decreased Frenzy cooldown from 120 to 90 seconds.
Changed Battle Focus: Added +30% Damage to melee critical hit; Battlerage skills will consume -42% mana; decreased cooldown from 45 to 42 seconds.

Added +8% melee critical hit rate to Dual-Wield Proficiency.
Changed Attack Speed Training: Removed attack speed +4%; added Battlerage skill cooldown reduction of 10%.
Changed Puncture: Decreased duration from 7 to 5 seconds; decreased physical piercing debuff from 3000 to 2000.
Increased Bondbreaker skill duration from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.

Defense

Added new active skill Seizing Shove and passive skills Shield of Steel, Spry Fortress, and Ursine Roar.
Changed Refreshment: Increased base Max HP boost; removed cooldown (previously 60 sec).
Boastful Roar now attacks with 100% of the accumulated Mettle rather than 50%.
Removed cooldown on Toughen (previously 60 sec).
Increased Revitalizing Cheer's additional HP regen amount from 30% of Mettle to 50% of Mettle.
    Removed Redoubt's Attack Speed boost.

Changed Supplemental Block: Blocking melee/ranged attacks increases block rate +15% for 5 sec.
